2B Girls Basketball: Pirates Plunder Trojans

ADNA — Adna held Pe Ell to less than 5 points in each quarter to cruise to a 54-13 win in a Central 2B League girls basketball game here Tuesday.

Tyas Pannette led the Pirates with 24 points, making 6 of 13 shots from behind the arc. Payton Aselton recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Samantha Foster led Adna with 11 rebounds.

Annika Mason and Maggie Elliott each scored 5 points for Pe Ell.

“Defensively, we’ve turned our opponents over an average of 30 times, but we haven’t been able to convert to points. We were able, in the second half, to turn those TOs into points,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said. “Our defense is going to keep us in most games. Our offense has to generate enough points off of our defense and we’ll be just fine.”

Adna (4-3, 3-2) heads to Chelan next Wednesday for the Chelan Holiday Tournament, taking on Oroville in its opening game. Pe Ell (1-5, 1-3) plays in the Jack Q. Pearson Holiday Tournament, starting next Wednesday with a 4 p.m. game against host Willapa Valley in Menlo.

Ally Bacon and Emily Tyner both played well defensively, Layton said.

Alyssa Ewers added 9 points for Toledo, and Ryann Bailey led Kalama with 12 points.
