New Turf Being Installed at Tenino’s Beaver Stadium
By The Chronicle
Beaver Stadium’s facelift is underway.
Crews from Hellas Construction, out of Austin, Texas, started laying down Tenino High School’s synthetic black turf this week.
The school district was awarded an $85,000 grant from Hellas Construction in February for to replace the grass athletic field, which was about 30 years old and plagued with drainage issues.
The entire construction team from Hellas will be in town soon, as it was finishing up an installation of new turf at the Kibbie Dome at the University of Idaho this week.
The Tenino project is expected to be completed Aug. 14, just in time for the official start of prep football practice on Aug. 16.
The district also received a grant of more than $181,000 from TransAlta to replace the aging light infrastructure from metal-halide lamps to LED lighting that are expected to save the district around $10,000 a year, and work on improvements to the stadium is also underway.
