College Baseball: Lower Columbia Sweeps Centralia
By The Chronicle
Centralia wrapped up the regular season at Ed Wheeler Field on Saturday, dropping an NWAC West Region baseball doubleheader to Lower Columbia 16-6 and 14-1.
In Game 1, the Red Devils scored six runs in the third inning to pull away for the win.
Wes Kuzminsky was 2 for 4 with a home run and Robbie Wall was also 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
Ethan Hori added two hits including a double with three RBIs and Taylor Mondina also had two hits with a run.
Lower Columbia took Game 2 in six innings, scoring 11 runs in the final three innings.
Centralia’s lone run was scored in the first inning as Gabe Farrer hit a single to bring home Colton Titus for a 1-0 lead. The Red Devils answered in the second inning with two runs in the second inning to take the lead for good.
Bryce Wolfe and Mondina also had hits for the Blazers.
Centralia finishes the season 12-24 overall and 9-15 in West Region games. The Blazers are the No. 4 seed out of the region and will face Mt. Hood at Archbishop Murphy at 1 p.m. to open the NWAC Super Regionals. If Centralia wins, they will face Everett at 7 p.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium. A loss would put the Blazers in a loser out situation on Saturday against the loser of Everett-Mt. Hood on Friday night.
