College Sports: Centralia Outlasts Tacoma in Five Sets

Centralia was down 2-1, but stormed back and earned a 3-2 win over Tacoma in an NWAC West Region volleyball match at Michael Smith Gymnasium in Centralia on Friday.
The win snapped a six-game losing streak for Centralia and was their first win in West Region games.
The Lady Blazers won set one, 25-22. Tacoma was able to win the next two sets with scores of 25-16 and 25-23. Centralia dug deep and was able to win the fourth set 25-22 and kept the momentum going with a 15-9 fifth set win to earn the match.
Autumn Durand led the Lady Blazers with 25 kills and added 10 digs. Macey Martin had a team-high 18 digs and Peyton Timmons tallied 16 digs and 32 assists.
Centralia (8-15, 1-3) hosts Green River on Wednesday in an NWAC West Region match.
Centralia Blanks Grays Harbor
The Lady Blazers scored two goals in the first half to cruise to a 2-0 win over Grays Harbor in an NWAC West Region women’s soccer match at Tiger Stadium in Centralia on Saturday night.
Centralia snapped a three game losing streak with the win.
Centralia scored their first goal in the 27th minute, with Natalie Coleman finding Gabbi Nowodworski for an early lead.
In the 41st minute, Amanda Jamison scored on an assist from Nowodworski for a 2-0 lead.
Centralia outshot Grays Harbor 16-11 in the second half, but neither team could find twine. The Blazers outshot the Chokers 28-15 overall.
Centralia goalkeeper Haylee Perkinson made eight saves.
The Lady Blazers (3-11-1, 2-7) face Bellevue at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in Bellevue in an NWAC West Region game.
