College Sports: Pierce Downs Centralia

PUYALLUP — Centralia tied the match after two sets, but Pierce took control in the third and fourth sets for a 3-1 win in an NWAC West Region volleyball match here on Wednesday.
Pierce won the first set, 25-20, but Centralia answered and won the second set, 25-21.
The Raiders figured it out in the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-13 and 25-23 to win the match.
Autumn Durand led Centralia with 18 kills and added nine digs. Tianna Hanohano contributed 11 kills and eight digs.
Macey Martin had a team-high 18 digs, Stephanie Fried tallied 16 digs and Mayhala Kruse had 14 kills. Peyton Timmons recorded 37 assists for the Lady Blazers.
Centralia Falls to Lower Columbia
LONGVIEW — Centralia was held scoreless for the third straight game, falling to Lower Columbia 4-0 in an NWAC West Region women’s soccer match here on Wednesday.
Lower Columbia’s Shelby Vermeulen scored the only goal of the first half in the 14th minute.
Kayla Willis scored in the 47th minute and Vermeulen added her second of the game later in the half. Kaylee Murray scored the fourth and final goal for the Red Devils in the 70th minute.
Centralia was outshot 22-8. Goalkeeper Haylee Perkinson made 13 saves in the loss.
Centralia (2-11-1, 1-7) hosts Grays Harbor in a West Region game on Saturday at Tiger Stadium in Centralia.
