College Volleyball: Centralia Falls to Skagit Valley, Olympic

BREMERTON — The Blazers dropped a pair of matches to Skagit Valley and Olympic in non-regional NWAC volleyball action here on Friday.
Centralia started the day against Skagit Valley and lost 3-1. Skagit Valley won set one 25-18 and took the second set 25-20. The Blazers were able to fend off defeat with a 27-25 third set victory but couldn’t extend the match further as the Cardinals ended the match with a 25-17 fourth set.
Olivia Mitten tallied 20 kills to lead the Blazers and Madelynn Skinner added eight kills. Macey Martin led the team with 37 assists and 10 digs.
The Blazers faced Olympic in the second match of the day and lost 3-1. Centralia won the first set 25-21 but Olympic won the next three sets 25-22, 25-20 and 25-23.
Skinner and Mitten each had 13 kills and Skinner also led the way with 20 digs. Martin recorded 33 assists and seven digs. Skylah Kunihisa and Kelli Born each chipped in six kills and Rachel Wilkerson had eight digs for the Blazers.
Centralia (1-12) hosts Mt. Hood at 1 p.m. and Clackamas at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the Blazers’ home opener.
