Friday’s 2B Softball: Pe Ell-Willapa Valley, Adna Reach Final Four

YAKIMA — Pe Ell-Willapa Valley reached the semifinals here Friday night, beating Chewelah 12-5 in the quarterfinals of the State 2B Softball Tournament.
Adna defeated defending champion Northwest Christian 1-0 and will face Liberty at noon on Saturday. The Titans will take on Kittitas at noon on Saturday in the semifinals.
Onalaska mounted a comeback, down 10-3 to Liberty before storming back, but the Loggers came up just short in a 12-11 loss. Onalaska faces Ocosta at 10 a.m. in a loser out game.
Toledo defeated Lake Roosevelt 16-13 in the consolation bracket to stay alive. The Indians take on Chewelah at 10 a.m. in a loser out game.
Pe Ell-Willapa Valley Demolishes Liberty Christian
YAKIMA — The Titans bats were hot here on Friday morning, cranking out 18 hits in a 17-2 win over Liberty Christian in a State 2B softball tournament first round game.
Kamryn Adkins started in the circle and struck out three batters. She helped her own cause at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, a walk, four runs and four RBI.
Katelyn McGough was 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, three RBI and four runs and Britney Patrick was 3-for-4 with three runs and a RBI.
Olivia Matlock was 4-for-4 with a run, Grace Hodel was 3-for-3 with a run, walk and RBI and Presley Peterson was 3-for-3 with a RBI and three runs scored.
The Titans scored three runs in the first, four runs in the second and third innings and six runs in the fourth, with Peterson knocking in the game ending run.
PWV advanced to face Chewelah in the quarterfinals.
Onalaska Takes Advantage of Mistakes in Win
YAKIMA — Onalaska took advantage of 11 Dayton/Waitsburg errors to earn a 14-4 win in six innings in a State 2B softball tournament first round game here on Friday.
Adalee Sabin was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs and Hannah James was 2-for-2 with two runs and a stolen base for the Loggers.
Onalaska’s Alex Cleveland-Barrera was 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk and Chaise Cadwell and Ashley Pannkuk each scored two runs.
Onalaska scored one run in the first and two runs in the second to lead 3-1. Dayton/Waitsburg scored three runs in the third inning to cut the Logger advantage to 5-4 after three innings.
The Loggers made sure it wasn’t close for long, scoring seven runs in the fourth inning on six hits and two errors. Onalaska tacked on one run in each the fifth and sixth innings to end the game early.
Onalaska advanced to face Liberty in the quarterfinals.
Pirates Sail Past Raiders
YAKIMA — Adna’s Haley Rainey pitched a gem in the circle to lead the Pirates to a 12-2 win over Lake Roosevelt in five innings in a State 2B softball tournament first round game here on Friday.
Rainey pitched 4 ⅓ innings, allowing one hit, no earned runs and one walk while striking out 12 batters.
At the plate, Adna’s Kooper Mahoney was 2-for-2 with a double, run and three RBI and Emma Eko had a hit and two RBI. Skye Snow and Ruby Bower each had a hit, two runs and two RBI.
Adna scored one run in the first and second innings but the Raiders gained some momentum with two runs in the top of the third inning to tie the game.
The Pirates didn’t allow that to last for long, scoring four runs in the bottom of the third followed by six runs in the fourth inning to end the game early.
Adna advanced to face defending champion Northwest Christian in the quarterfinals.
Northwest Christian No-Hits Toledo
YAKIMA — Toledo couldn’t generate much offense against the defending state champions, falling 10-1 in a State 2B softball tournament quarterfinal game here on Friday.
Payson Hoiseck pitched a complete game for Toledo. Alison Shaler pitched all seven innings for the Crusaders, striking out 13 batters in the win.
Northwest Christian’s Amree Tibbetts had two hits and Ellie Sander, Jordan Rabe and Shaler each scored two runs for the Crusaders.
Toledo scored their only run in the fifth inning on an error.
The Indians fell to the consolation side of the bracket and faced Lake Roosevelt in a loser out game. Northwest Christian advanced to face Adna in the quarterfinals.
