Friday’s College Baseball: Pierce Earns Two Close Victories Over Centralia

TACOMA — Centralia battled with Pierce in both games of a NWAC West Region baseball doubleheader, but came up just short as the Raiders won both games here on Friday.
Pierce won Game 1, 6-4. Zach Weinert started on the mound and pitched five innings, allowing nine hits and three earned runs with three strikeouts.
Nole Wollan was 3-for-5 with two runs and Gavin Manheimer was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gavin O’Donnell had a hit and a RBI and Blake Marker tallied a hit and a run for the Blazers.
Centralia scored a run in the first and each team scored two runs in the second. Pierce tied the game with a run the fourth but the Blazers plated a run in the fifth to regain the lead.
The Raiders tallied two runs in the seventh to take their first lead of the game and added one more run in the eighth to insure the win.
Pierce won Game 2 in walk off fashion, 6-5. Dylan Stakelin started on the mound for the Blazers and threw five innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs and two walks.
Wollan was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Colton Titus was 2-for-3 with a run. Manheimer and Ethan Hori each had a hit, a run and an RBI.
Pierce led 2-1 after the first inning and added another run in the second. The Blazers scored four runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead.
The Raiders scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game and scored on an error in the eighth inning for the walk off win.
Centralia (7-23, 2-8) is right back at it against Pierce on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a conference doubleheader at Wheeler Field.
