Friday’s College Basketball: North Idaho Ends Centralia’s Season in Elite 8

EVERETT — Centralia went toe-to-toe with North Idaho in the first half, but the Cardinals caught fire in the second half to fly past Centralia 84-56 in the NWAC Men’s Basketball Tournament Elite 8 here on Friday.

Marqus Gilson had another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Tyler Ashmore led the Blazers with 16 points and LaBrandon Price tallied 10 points and four assists.

North Idaho’s Emmitt Taylor came off the bench and poured in 24 points, including six of 13 shooting from behind the arc. RayQuan Evans recorded a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards and Nate Pryor and Alphonso Anderson each added 12 points.

The first half was closely contested with six lead changes and the team’s tied at 34 at intermission.

North Idaho came out of the locker room hot in the second half, with Taylor knocking down five 3-pointers in the second half to turn a four point lead into a 21-point lead to help the Cardinals pull away for the victory.

The Blazers finished the season 20-11 overall. It was the final game in a Blazers uniform for Price, Clark, Dixon, Gilson, Michael Brown, Collin Prangley, Liam Murphy, and Donovan Eiman.
