Friday’s College Basketball: Spokane Edges Centralia

ROSEBURG, ORE. — Centralia’s Marqus Gilson led all scorers with 24 points, but it wasn’t enough as Spokane won 80-70 in a non-divisional men’s college basketball game here on Friday.

LaBrandon Price came off the bench for Centralia and contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.

Spokane had four starters in double figures, led by the 19 points of JR Delgado. Dedrick Pakootas and Asher Cox each added 13 points.

The difference was 3-point shooting, as the Bigfoots shot 12 of 24 while Centralia was just 6 of 20 from behind the arc. Each team shot 51 percent from the field.

Centralia (4-4) faces Skagit Valley at 4 p.m. in Roseburg on Saturday.

Women’s College Basketball

Hawks Fly Past Blazers

PASCO — Columbia Basin dominated the third quarter to earn a 65-51 win over Centralia in a non-divisional women’s basketball game here on Friday night.

Piper Cai led Centralia with 15 points and five rebounds. Rachel Wilkerson added 12 points and five rebounds.

Abigayle Myers led all scorers with 18 points for Columbia Basin.

The difference in the game was free throw shooting, with the Hawks shooting 85 percent while Centralia shot just 50 percent. The Hawks also shot the ball better from behind the arc at 44 percent compared to Centralia’s 20 percent shooting.

Columbia Basin led 15-10 after one quarter and stretched the lead to 44-23 at halftime. The Hawks put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Centralia 23-6.

Centralia (4-5) faces Lane at 2 p.m. in Pasco in their second game of the CBC Crossover Tournament.
