By The Chronicle
Centralia College picked up a pair of NWAC South Region softball wins Friday afternoon, beating Clark 8-0 and 11-3 as the Blazers celebrated local senior citizens at Fort Borst Park.
Dakota Brooks did the heavy lifting in Centralia’s shutout Game 1 win, pitching all five innings with just one hit allowed. She was solid at the plate as well, hitting her 18th home run and going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.
Britzy Hockett and Skylar Olson were each 2 for 3 for Centralia, with Mikayla Deffenbaugh adding a double and driving in two runs.
Centralia scored seven runs in the fourth inning and added four in the fifth to win Game 2 by a 10-3 margin.
Hockett went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, while Brooks was 2 for 4 and drove in three runs. Jayden Benson and Devanie Kleemeyer each added two hits for the Blazers, while Zoe McCoy pitched all five innings and gave up just two earned runs to get the win.
Centralia (23-18 overall) improved to 17-11 in West Region play with the win, though the Blazers are tied with Clackamas for fourth place — and the final NWAC Championships berth — at the conclusion of the regular season.
