Friday’s Girls Golf: Montesano Swings Past Rochester
By The Chronicle
Rochester only had four golfers against Montesano and the Bulldogs took advantage in a 97-15 win in a non-league girls golf match at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Friday.
Montesano’s Malena Parker earned medalist honors with 28 points. Glory Grubb finished second with 23 points and McKenna Wecker placed third with 20 points.
Alex Anderson led Rochester with seven points. Alyssa Pontes had a great day with four points and Andrea Jones tallied three points. Beige Norton rounded out the Warriors with one point.
“We found out about this match last minute, we were short handed but the girls that were there played well,” Rochester coach Brian Keese said. “Alyssa (Pontes) had one of her highest scores of the season. It was a really fun season for our eight golfers, we’ll really be ready to compete with some of these teams next year.”
Alex Anderson, Kyra Darnell and Kylie Miller will compete for the Warriors in the District 4 2A girls golf tournament at Capitol City Golf Course in Olympia on Tuesday and Wednesday.
