Friday’s Prep Baseball: Elma Drops Tenino in Regular Season Finale
By The Chronicle
ELMA — Elma’s Brady Shriver threw a one hitter to lead the Eagles to a 4-2 win over Tenino in a 1A Evergreen League baseball game here on Friday.
Blake Gubbe started on the mound for the Beavers and was relieved by Ryan Deoskey in the sixth inning. Karl Hisaw recorded the only hit for the Beavers.
Tenino got on the board first with two runs in the fourth inning. Elma tied the game with two runs in the fifth and gained the lead with two runs in the sixth to earn the win.
“Gubbe threw well, threw well enough to win a game. You don’t score a whole lot of runs on one hit, didn’t get anything going ever,” Tenino coach Ryan Deoskey said. “Shriver, he threw really well. He challenged us with his fastball and curveball and we couldn’t get anything going. He threw 82 pitches, he was going right after us. They made the plays when they needed to and we didn’t that was the difference in the ball game.”
Tenino ends the season 7-12 overall and 5-7 in league games. The Beavers are the No. 3 seed out of the Evergreen League and will take on La Center at 4 p.m. in Castle Rock on Monday to begin the District 4 1A baseball tournament.
