Friday’s Prep Softball: Aselton, Eko Lead Pirates in Sweep of Napavine

ADNA — Payton Aselton and Emma Eko were both 5 for 5 with home runs over the course of a Central 2B League softball twinbill here Friday, helping Adna sweep Napavine 17-0 and 19-1 to stay undefeated in league play.

The Pirates tallied 15 hits in the opener, with Aselton going 2 for 2 with a triple and an RBI. Eko was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, while Haley Rainey got the win in the circle.

Rainey pitched all four innings, giving up one hit with seven strikeouts. She also went 2 for 3 at the plate and knocked in four runs.

Kooper Mohney and Emily Sliva each added doubles for Adna.

Aselton, Eko and Rainey all homered in the 19-1 nightcap win, with Aselton going 3 for 3 and adding a double and four RBIs. Eko was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, while Rainey was 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs.

Skye Snow struck out four and allowed one hit, with one walk, to get the win for the Pirates. Ada Williams’ double was the Tigers’ lone hit.

Olivia Rodriguez and Ruby Bower were both 2 for 3 with a double for the Pirates.

Adna (11-1, 9-0 league) hosts Morton-White Pass in a league doubleheader on Wednesday. Napavine (3-6, 2-6 league) plays two at Rainier on Wednesday.

Bobcats Get Over On Warriors

ABERDEEN — Lexie Trombley smacked a home run here Friday night but the Warriors came up short in a 3-2 loss to Aberdeen in 2A Evergreen Conference softball action.

Delaney Glazer handled the pitching duties for Rochester and wound up with a loss despite surrendering just one walk, four hits, and two earned runs. She also struck out 10 Bobcats in six innings.

“Dude, she was money until that (sixth) inning. She gave up three hits in the space of four batters and that ended up being the ballgame,” said Rochester coach Dave Montgomery. “It was tough.”

Rochester (4-5, 1-4 league) will host W.F. West on Monday.

Loggers Take Two From MWP

MORTON — Onalaska stayed perfect in league play here Friday, beating Morton-White Pass 8-6 and 13-10 in a C2BL softball twinbill.

The Loggers knocked 12 hits in the 8-6 Game 1 victory, with Hannah James leading the way at the dish with a 4 for 4 performance and two doubles. Olivia Mitten was 2 for 3, Ashley Pannkuk had three hits and Amy Henderson got the win in the circle for Onalaska.

Haley Brooks went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for MWP, while Hannah Smathers was 2 for 4 with a double. Emmalee Hazen and Kylie Davis both added RBI singles.

Henderson got the win again in the five-inning nightcap, as the Loggers scored 11 runs in the first inning. Henderson helped her own cause by going 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles, and Mitten and Lawrence were each 2 for 4.

Brooks went 2 for 3 for MWP, while Taylor Hazen was 2 for 2 with a double.

MWP (5-3, 4-3 league) is scheduled to host Mossyrock to complete a postponed game on Monday. Onalaska (8-2, 8-0 league) plays at Hoquiam on Monday.
