Girls Bowling: Bearcats Claw Past Bulldogs

MONTESANO — W.F. West traveled to Montesano on Wednesday and left on the bus with a 15-4 win in a 1A/2A Evergreen League girls bowling match.

W.F. West’s Brianna Powe rolled a 137 and 176, Kayleigh Leech added a 115 and a 109 and Kelsey Stritmatter had a 163 and a 113.

Jessica Loflin chipped in individual scores of 161 and 149 and Ellie Bunker rounded out the Bearcats with a 186 and 167.

Montesano was led by Olivia Moore with individual scores of 139 and 145.

W.F. West won the first Baker game 150-123, but lost the second game 142-103.

“Overall, I was proud of our girls for staying positive and battling the lanes and our recent flu bug,” W.F. West coach Don Bunker said. “We only traveled with 13 out of 20 girls, so we will definitely take this victory.”

W.F. West (7-1, 5-1) is off for a little over a month, hosting Rochester at Fairway Lanes on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.

Black Hills Rolls Past Rochester

Black Hills had a strong showing but it wasn’t enough as Black Hills won 17-2 in a 1A/2A Evergreen League girls bowling match at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Monday.

Rochester’s Zee Lowry led the way with games of 133 and 128. Thalia Phothisat rolled a 155 and a 101, Amerika Jones bowled a 104 and a 135 and Emily Holmes-Pickernell had a 74 and a 146. Kyra Darnell rounded out the Warriors with games of 111 and 99.

Black Hills best bowler was Mac Theophilius with a 194 and a 148.

The Wolves won both Baker Games, 170-105 and 135-114.

“Kyra Darnell stepped in for her first varsity match and set the tone to start each baker game,” Rochester coach Kevin Nealer said. “The girls are becoming more comfortable and are looking forward to facing each league team again to see if they can improve their overall scores.”

Rochester (2-5, 2-2) hosts Aberdeen at Fairway Lanes on Wednesday.
