Sunday’s Results
Anglers Gut Sasquatch
VANCOUVER – The Rural Baseball Inc. Anglers wasted no time in dispatching their opponent here Sunday, scoring 11 runs in the first inning on the way to a 24-2 drubbing of the Centerfield Sasquatch.
Anglers coach Skyler Towns said that his team was patient at the plate and took advantage of the enticing pitches that did come their way.
“We had six doubles, one legit inside the park homerun,” said Towns. “We just walked a lot and we just hit the ball really well yesterday.”
Towns noted that Mateo Vodjansky of Toledo had a particularly good day on offense for the anglers.
“Mateo’s bat was hot yesterday,” said Towns. “I gave him a green light on a 3-0 count and he nearly put it out of the park.”
The Anglers whacked seven doubles on the day including two-baggers from Zander Ross of Longview, and Jacob Douglass of Chehalis. Jesse Towns of Toledo had two doubles himself and Mekhi Morlin added a pair of hits for the Anglers.
On the mound Evan Moon of Chehalis pitched all five innings for RBI, allowing zero earned runs and striking out four Sasquatch along the way.
The Anglers (4-3) will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the 4th Annual Dave Orzel Memorial tournament in Winlock.
