Monday’s 1A Baseball: Miscues Cost Beavers Against Black Hills
By The Chronicle
TUMWATER — Tenino got solid pitching from Blake Gubbe and Logan Brewer, but five miscues in the field helped Black Hills beat the Beavers, 4-3, in nonleague baseball action here Monday.
Gubbe worked the first four innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven.
“Blake pitched really well,” Tenino coach Conner Hogue said. “It was awesome. He got into a groove right off the bat.”
Brewer finished out the game, allowing just one hit over three innings.
“He threw a lot of strikes,” Hogue said. “Our mistakes defensively, and our inability to hit runners in in scoring position, did us in today.”
Brewer went 3 for 4 at the plate and Dalton Chambers was 2 for 3 for the Beavers.
Tenino (6-2-1, 2-0 league) plays at Toledo on Thursday and at Hoquiam on Friday.
