Monday’s 2B Girls Soccer: Adna Fends Off Ocosta

WESTPORT — Ocosta scored first, but Adna was able to rebound and score two goals in the second half to earn a 2-1 win over the Wildcats in a Central 2B League girls soccer match here on Monday.
Ocosta scored the only goal of the first half, with Teal Mitby firing a shot from outside the box and out of the reach of Adna goalkeeper Makaela Meister for a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Pirates tied the game in the 48th minute, as Cierra Swenson was fouled in the box. Payton Aselton stepped in to take the penalty kick and converted to tie the game at one.
Adna took the lead in the 75th minute. Brynn Arrington booted a corner kick that found Swenson, controlling the ball and kicking it into the net for the lead. The Pirates were able to hold strong the final five minutes to earn the win.
Adna had 21 shots, including 10 on frame in the contest.
The Pirates (11-0) travel to Toledo on Wednesday for a C2BL game.

Toledo Defeats Life Christian
TACOMA — Toledo’s Kal Schaplow scored two goals to lead the Indians to a 4-1 win over Life Christian in a Central 2B League girls soccer game here on Monday.
Toledo’s Maryssa Peters scored in the 12th minute with an assist by Marina Smith. Rylan Richardson scored on an assist by Peters for a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the 51st minute, Schaplow scored her first of the night on an assist from Daphnie Bybee. Schaplow scored her second goal of the game in the 65th minute with an assist by Briza Gallegos.
“I think they played really well. One of the biggest things today, they play on a huge, professional size field. We talked about it and they adjusted real quick,” Toledo coach Noel Vazquez said. “We put the pressure on right at the get go.”
Kaylee Viegel made three saves and Schaplow made two saves in the Toledo win.
Vazquez complimented the play of senior captain Rylan Richardson and of eighth graders Paige Hill and Bybee, each recording an assist against Life Christian. He also was impressed by Schaplow, playing in net to start and then moving to forward and scoring two goals.
Toledo (6-6) hosts Adna on Wednesday in a C2BL game.

Napavine Edges Winlock
WINLOCK — Napavine scored with 30 seconds left in the game to earn a 2-1 win over Winlock in a Central 2B League girls soccer match here on Monday.
The first half was scoreless, although Winlock had plenty of chances to score in the first 40 minutes.
“It was a crazy first half. We could not find a way to put it in,” Winlock coach Brian Ziese said. “The game could have been 5-0 at half for us.”
Napavine got on the board in the 64th minute on a goal by Halee Williams. Winlock evened the score in the 75th minute with a goal by Alexa Barragan. With time winding down, Napavine scored, ricocheting a shot off the bar and just out of the reach of Winlock goalkeeper Cheleena Squibb.
“It was a tough loss. We had so many chances, breakaways, just could not put it in,” Ziese said. “Our chances, it just wasn’t with us tonight.”
Napavine (5-7) travels to Onalaska on Wednesday while Winlock (2-10) hosts Life Christian in a C2BL match.
Note: Kalama defeated Onalaska 3-0 in a C2BL game in Kalama on Monday.
