By The Chronicle
ABERDEEN — Centralia’s Rudy Voetberg earned another medalist honor as the Tigers won 229-237 against Aberdeen in an Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf match at Grays Harbor Country Club here on Monday.
Voetberg carded a 38 to take the title. Aberdeen’s Nolan King took second place with a 40 and Centralia’s Brett Wasson earned third with a 43.
Jesse Kuykendall carded a 44 and Nolan Rice added a 46. Jayden Pannette rounded out the Tigers with a 58.
“We played well on a course that’s kind of difficult to play, such a different course,” Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said. “Rudy, that’s his fifth 38 he’s shot during the season. He’s been very consistent. It was a beautiful day in the harbor, we don’t get that often. We enjoyed seeing a dry golf course for one of the few times in the last few years.”
Centralia will compete in the District 4 tournament next Wednesday and Thursday at Capitol City Golf Course in Olympia.
Rochester Falls to Black Hills
Logan Fry carded a 47 to lead the Warriors but it was Black Hills earning a 237-291 win in an Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf match at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Monday.
Black Hills’ Tyler Gill earned match medalist with a 44. Teammate Jackson Fenner finished second with a 45 and Dylan Bigler took third place with a 46.
Rochester’s Brady Moen tallied a 52 and Luke Barth totaled a 57. Gabe Masias added a 60 and Rowdy Edminster rounded out the Warriors with a 65.
Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist noted it was Fry’s second best score of the year and was pleased with the score of Edminster since taking up golf at the start of the year and improving consistently throughout the season.
Rochester will compete next Wednesday and Thursday at the district tournament in Olympia.
