Monday’s Prep Baseball: Loggers Start Road Trip With Win

WAPATO — The Loggers started spring break on the right foot here Monday, beating 2A Wapato 14-4 in a nonleague baseball game.

Tristen Lawrence and Matt Kurzeika each pitched half of the six-inning game, allowing a total of two hits. Lawrence fanned two, while Kurzeika struck out three, and neither allowed an earned run.

“It’s just good to get good weather and play,” Onalaska coach Rocky Stanley said. “We are getting better. We’re improving every game.”

Cody Cooper went 2 for 5 with three RBIs, Kurzeika hit a two-run triple, Adrian Sanchez hit an RBI double and Kyle Trulson added an RBI single for the Loggers, who had seven hits in the win.

Onalaska (2-3) continues its road trip with a 10 a.m. doubleheader at Zillah on Tuesday.
