W.F. West senior Brock Jones was selected in the 16th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2019 MLB Draft on Wednesday.

Jones, listed at 6’1 and 180 pounds, was the 484th pick of the draft after completing his senior season for the Bearcats. He pitched 43 ⅔ innings with a 4-3 record and a 0.802 ERA. He allowed just 14 hits and five earned runs while striking out 89 batters.

While drafted as a pitcher, Jones had a great year at the plate as well. He hit .388 with a .471 on base percentage. He had 33 hits including 15 doubles and two home runs and tied for the team lead with 21 RBI.

Jones was named the Evergreen 2A Conference All-League Baseball MVP and was named The Chronicle’s All-Area Baseball team MVP.

It is the second straight year a W.F. West baseball player has been selected in the MLB draft. Brandon White was picked in the 14th round, 434th overall, by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2018 draft. White ultimately decided not to sign a contract with the Dodgers and opted to play for Washington State University.

Jones has signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Washington next season.
