Tiger Girls Place Fourth at Trapper Invite

VANCOUVER — The Tiger girls took seven girls and finished fourth here Saturday at the Fort Vancouver Trapper Invite wrestling tournament.

Kupria Lapierre, at 135 pounds, was Centralia’s top performer, winning her bracket with three straight pins.

Taryn Salazar (100) took third, as did Ali Silva (120) and Faith Halseth (125). Berenice Ramirez was fourth at 145, and Jakayla Shipe and Marely Farfan were co-fifth at 170.

Centralia is back in action at the sub-regional tournament on Saturday at the Northwest Sports Hub.


Adna’s Dowell, Perry Both Win Titles at Ilwaco’s Beach Brawl

ILWACO — Adna’s Ashton Dowell and Kameron Perry both finished first here Saturday at Ilwaco’s Beach Brawl wrestling tournament.

Dowell won his championship at 170 pounds, while Perry won at 182.

Aaron Slape (138) and Matthew Slape (160) both finished second, and Luke Wellander took third at 145.

Adna finished fourth as a team.

“There was a lot of tough competition at this tournament and it was a great way to finish our regular season and get us ready for our district tournament,” Adna coach Craig Ferrier said, pointing out that Perry and Aaron Slape are both wrestling particularly well at this point in the season.

The Pirates enter the District 4 tournament on Saturday at the Northwest Sports Hub in Centralia.
