Summer Baseball: I-5 Toyota Falls to Lakeside Recovery

ANACORTES — I-5 Toyota/Mountain Dew outhit Lakeside Recovery here on Sunday, but was unable to earn the win as Lakeside Recovery won 7-4 in a Washington American Legion AAA state baseball tournament quarterfinal game.
Drew Rose pitched all six innings for I-5 Toyota, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four batters in the losing effort. He helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Lakeside Recovery’s Brady Liddle earned the win on the mound, pitching 6 ⅔ innings and allowing four earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six batters.
At the plate, Camden Ryan was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and two runs and Carter Olsen had a double with a run scored and two RBI. Max Miller was 2-for-4 and Teegan Zillyet added a hit and a RBI for I-5 Toyota.
Lakeside Recovery scored two runs in the first inning for an early lead. I-5 Toyota answered with three runs in the third inning. Olsen hit a 2-RBI double to tie the game and Zillyet followed it up with an RBI single for a 3-2 lead.
The lead didn’t hold for long as Lakeside Recovery scored one run in the bottom of the third inning and gained the lead with three runs in the fifth inning. Lakeside Recovery tacked on one more run in the sixth inning for insurance.
I-5 Toyota scored a run in the seventh to try to kickstart a comeback as Camden Ryan scored on a balk. I-5 Toyota had the bases loaded and the winning run at home plate but Max Taylor flew out to end the game.
I-5 Toyota faces the Hanford Flames at 4 p.m. to try to keep their season alive in the state tournament.
