Thursday’s Boys Soccer: Rochester Cruises Past Montesano

ROCHESTER — The Warriors had five different goal scorers against Montesano here on Thursday in a 5-1 victory in a non-league boys soccer game.
Rochester got on the board in the 18th minute on a goal by John Mejia with an assist by Enrique Sanchez. Carlos Zaragoza added the second goal on an assist by Alexis Castillo in the 25th minute. Mason Pietras scored in the 33rd minute on another assist by Sanchez for a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Anthony Vasquez-Valentine tallied a goal in the 56th minute and he assisted on Rochester’s final goal of the game by Castillo in the 62nd minute.
Rochester goalkeeper Dominic Heinrich made three saves in the win.
“They played really well. It was a physical game compared to Tuesday night against Tenino, something we have to adapt to,” Rochester coach Matt Ashton said. “I’m happy with the way we’re playing, the team ball we’re playing right now is looking pretty good.”
Rochester (2-0) hits the road to face Charles Wright Academy on Friday in a non-league game.
