By The Chronicle
W.F. West and Capital each won three matches in Chehalis on Thursday, but Capital prevailed on sets 7-6 in a non-league match.
In No. 1 singles, Ethan Griffith defeated W.F. West’s Andrew Pak in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Luke Walters won at No. 2 singles for the Bearcats but needed three sets to defeat Jackson Parr, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Gabe Cuestas earned a win for W.F. West in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles, Capital’s Luca Blazevic and Colby Cingmars topped Joseph Chung and Cade Camerson, 6-4, 6-3. Muthuu Svs and Ben Rex defeated the Bearcats’ Collin Slattery and Caleb Walters, 6-2, 6-2.
W.F. West’s Jacob Blondahl and Christian Iverson defeated Shane Kalb and Dexter Knutson-Kller in No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-4.
“I liked how Luke battled back after he lost the first set. Gabe got down in the second set, we talked about things he needed to do a little better in the second set and he was doing that. He needed to be a little more aggressive,” W.F. West coach Jack State said. “Jacob and Christian did a nice job of staying focused and we talked about after they won the first set about not having a let down.”
W.F. West hosts Tumwater on Monday in an EvCo matchup.
