The Tigers needed every point against the Warriors at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Thursday as Centralia won 21-17 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match.
Centralia’s Lexi Erb won medalist honors with nine points via the modified stableford scoring system. Rochester’s Kyra Darnell and Alex Anderson along with Centralia’s Tessa Smith tied for second with six points each.
Mazzi Nowicki tallied three points and Lily Miller added two points for the Tigers. Jordan Blaettler recorded one point and Karen Wu was unable to record a point.
Rochester’s Alyssa Pontes had three points and Kylie Miller chipped in two points. Beige Norton and Ester Grosz were unable to record a point.
“I’m really happy with it. Half of our team, it was their first match period,” Rochester coach Brian Keese said. “There are a lot of folks in Centralia that are new. It was a great learning experience for both teams and nice to start the season and have a competitive match.”
Rochester travels to Aberdeen on Monday to take on the Bobcats at Grays Harbor Country Club. Centralia hosts W.F. West on Monday at Riverside in a Swamp Cup matchup.
