By The Chronicle
TUMWATER — W.F. West didn’t drop a set to Black Hills to earn a 6-0 win in Evergreen 2A Conference boys tennis match here on Thursday.
In singles, No. 1 player Cade Cameron defeated Jonathan Schade, 6-4, 6-1. Luke Walters didn’t drop a game against Evan Martinez in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Gabe Cuestas completed the singles sweep, taking down Miguel Carrillo, 6-1, 6-1.
“Cade, I thought he didn’t play well against Timberline. He made some big corrections he had done wrong in his previous match and was a lot more solid,” W.F. West coach Jack State said. “He had a lot fewer errors on his part. I thought his game was a good game.”
In doubles, No. 1 Bearcat duo Andrew Pak and Joseph Chung defeated Dayton McGuire and Brenden Brown, 6-1, 7-6 (7-1).
“They had a clean first set. They had unforced errors until they went to the tiebreaker and were really sharp during the tiebreaker,” State said. “They had a little bit of a let down. They had to come back to tie it up and were really played a sharp tiebreaker.”
Colin Flattery and Caleb Walters took down Black Hills’ Ryan Cokl and Kyle Lince, 6-3, 6-3. W.F. West’s No. 3 doubles pair of Christian Iverson and Jacob Blomdahl won by forfeit.
W.F. West (3-0, 1-0) hosts Aberdeen on Monday in an EvCo match.
