Tuesday’s Girls Basketball: Tenino Takes Down Hoquiam

HOQUIAM — Kaylee Schow scored 29 points to lead Tenino to a 57-45 win over Hoquiam in a 1A Evergreen League girls basketball game here on Tuesday.

Ashley Schow added 12 points for the Beavers.

Rylee Vonhoff led the Grizzlies with 20 points and Maya Jump added 14 points.

Each team made 19 field goals, but Hoquiam shot 46 percent compared to Tenino’s 35 percent.

The Beavers led 18-8 after the first quarter, but Hoquaim regrouped and played better in the second quarter to trail just 28-24 at halftime. The Beavers outscored the Grizzlies 29-21 in the second half to earn the win.

Tenino finished the season 13-6 overall and 4-3 in league. The Beavers placed third in the league and will travel to face the Trico League’s No. 2 team on Feb. 8 to begin the District 4 1A girls basketball tournament.
