Centralia and Black Hills each won three matches, but the Wolves won on sets 7-6 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls tennis match in Centralia on Tuesday.

Black Hills’ Abby Calvert and Selina Ryfer defeated Danika Jensen and Maddie Corwin in the top doubles match, 6-2, 6-0. Liza Hopkins and Maya O’Dell fell to Black Hills’ Ainslee Campbell and Emily Schade in the No. 2 doubles match, 6-3, 6-3. Centralia’s Shannon Johnson and Olivia Wiley defeated Brittany Chapman and Fiona Cowell, 6-4, 6-4.
“Overall, I was really proud of our girls because they just kept fighting. Tied matches like these are good for our young team,” Centralia coach Deb Keahey said. “It builds character and shows them how important every point, game, set and match are to the team score. It helps them to realize it’s not just about them; it’s also about the team.”
Centralia travels to Ridgefield on Wednesday for a non-league match.
