Tuesday’s Prep Baseball: Zillah Sweeps Onalaska

ZILLAH — Onalaska played in sunny 55-degree weather, but were swept in a doubleheader by Zillah, 7-2 and 5-1, in nonleague baseball action here on Tuesday.

In Game 1, Zillah scored five runs in innings four through six to put the game away.

In Game 2, the Leopards scored three runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead. Onalaska scored its lone run in the fifth inning, with the Loggers only recording four hits in the loss.

Tristen Lawrence was 1 for 2, Trace Lawrence was 1 for 2 and Matt Kurzeika was 1 for 3 for Onalaska.

“It was nice to play three games over there. We got a lot of baseball in and they played really well,” Onalaska coach Rocky Stanley said. “We got beat by a good ball club, (but) I was really happy with the effort of our kids. We played pretty solid baseball, our best so far this year.”

Onalaska (2-7, 1-4 league) travels to Mossyrock Thursday for a makeup Central 2B League game.
