Tuesday’s Track: Bottenberg, Haakenson Each Win Two for W.F. West
Kendra Bottenberg and Allie Haakenson each won two events on Tuesday to highlight the Lady Bearcats’ second-place finish in a three-team Evergreen 2A Conference track meet in Chehalis.
Tumwater won both the boys and girls team meets, with the Bearcats taking second both ways and Rochester finishing third twice.
Bottenberg, a junior, won the shot put with a season-best toss of 36 feet — enough to beat runner-up Kaylee Hach, of Tumwater, by over 5 feet. She won the javelin by 29 feet at 130-0, with teammate Megan Pallas taking second, and finished second in the discus at a season-best 89 feet, 11 inches.
Haakenson, meanwhile, won the triple jump with a season-best leap of 30 feet, 4.5 inches, and won the long jump in 14 feet, 8.5 inches.
Erika Brumfield won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 40.33 seconds for the Bearcats, while Emma Thornburg won the 400 in 1:08.28, with Rochester’s Sufina Ahmath finishing second. Shasta Lofgren took second in both hurdle races (100 and 300) for W.F. West.
Jasper Ellingson won the 200 for the Bearcat boys in 23.77 seconds, and finished third in the 100. Teammate Ka’imi Henry won the 400 (53.90) and took second in the javelin, and Sonny Holub won the 800 for W.F. West (2:11.23).
Cory Davis won the 300 hurdles for the Bearcats, took second in the long jump and finished third in the 110 hurdles, and Kody Deskins was second in both races. Colby White won the long jump (18 feet) and took second in the triple jump, and Lafe Johnson won the pole vault (11-06) for W.F. West.
W.F. West will run at the Wolfpack Invitational meet on Friday at Tumwater District Stadium.
