TUMWATER — Jasmine Gallea got her first career start on the mound and helped lead the Bearcats to a 15-9 win over Black Hills in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game here on Wednesday.
Gallea tossed the first six innings to get the win.
W.F. West gathered 17 hits, including Ashlynn Whalen with a home run and Ashlee Vadala with two home runs and four RBIs. Ava Fugate also had four RBIs and W.F. West coach Caty Lieseke noted Taylor Barker had great at-bats.
The Bearcats scored eight runs in the third inning and added four in the fifth to put the game away.
“We’ve been putting together some good team wins and this one followed that same suit. We looked like we haven’t played in a week and a half because we haven’t,” Lieseke said. “In the third inning, we were back to what we’re used to doing.”
W.F. West (8-2, 5-0 league) hosts Aberdeen Thursday in a EvCo game.
