Wednesday’s Boys Basketball: Spudders Top Tigers

By The Chronicle

RIDGEFIELD — Michael Ajoge scored 19 points for the Tigers in a losing effort as Ridgefield earned a 64-43 win in a non-league boys basketball game here on Wednesday.

Ajoge also had a team-high nine rebounds. William Brown added 14 points for Centralia.

Matt Gama led Ridgefield with 14 points and Stefan Vossenkuhl and Josh Mansur each added 12 points.

Each team shot the ball well, with the Spudders shooting 50 percent from the field while Centralia shot 51 percent.

Ridgefield led 17-10 after one quarter and expanded the advantage to 33-21 at halftime. It was more of the same in the second half, with the Spudders outscoring the Tigers 31-22.

“It was kind of the same thing as the other night. A lot of little things we’re doing better as a team. Our setback was turnovers, a lot of unforced turnovers,” Centralia coach Kyle Donahue said. “A lot of times, those are plays you wish you could have had back. We didn’t take care of the ball as well. We played a lot better defense, stepped that up a little bit.”

Donahue was pleased with the performance by Ajoge, leading the team statistically and physically on the court, earning a lot of tough buckets inside. The coach was also happy with Brown’s shooting and Garrett Strophy for coming off the bench and doing the little things well for the Tigers.

Centralia (0-6) hits the road to face River Ridge at 6 p.m. on Saturday in a non-league game.
