Wednesday’s College Basketball: Centralia Comes Back to Top Highline

DES MOINES — Centralia overcame a 6-point halftime deficit to earn a 75-71 win over Highline in an NWAC West Region men’s basketball game here on Wednesday.
Marqus Gilson led the Blazers with 27 points. Collin Prangley added 14 points and 12 rebounds and Austin Curry scored 12 points and had a team-high 14 rebounds.
David Harris led Highline with 23 points.
Centralia shot 46 percent from the field and 55 percent from behind the arc while Highline shot 40 percent from the field and 25 percent from the 3-point line.
The Blazers trailed 43-37 at halftime, but Centralia held Highline to 28 points in the second half to earn the win.
Centralia (8-14, 4-3) has a week off before hosting Grays Harbor on Wednesday.

Lady Blazers Crush Thunderbirds
DES MOINES — Centralia’s Kylie Smith recorded a double-double to help the Lady Blazers defeat Highline 70-46 in an NWAC West Region women’s basketball game here on Wednesday.
Smith scored 23 points and had 13 rebounds. Courtney Kemble added 13 points.
Sharon Ajayi led Highline with 14 points.
Highline shot 28 percent from the field while Centralia converted 45 percent of their field goals. The Lady Blazers had a 47-41 edge in rebounding and the bench outscored Highline’s bench 22-4.
Centralia (11-9, 4-3) hosts Grays Harbor next Wednesday in a West Region matchup.
