Wednesday’s College Basketball: Defense Powers Centralia Past South Puget Sound

Centralia allowed just 6 points in the second half to cruise to a 60-40 win over South Puget Sound in an NWAC West Region Women’s Basketball game on Wednesday in Centralia.
Devanie Kleemeyer led the Lady Blazers with 16 points. Kayla Howard added 11 points and Courtney Kemble led Centralia with 9 rebounds.
The Clippers’ Haley Harn led all scorers with 22 points.
Centralia and South Puget Sound were tied at 34 after the first half. But the Lady Blazers locked down in the second half, allowing 2 points in the third quarter and 4 points in the fourth quarter while scoring 26 points to earn the win.
Centralia (12-11, 5-5) hosts Tacoma on Saturday at 5 p.m. in a West Region game.

Poquette Helps SPS Top Centralia
Kaleb Poquette helped South Puget Sound stay undefeated in NWAC West Region men’s basketball action with an 87-69 win over Centralia in the Hub City on Wednesday.
Poquette, a freshman from Morton and star of two Morton-White Pass state championship teams, came off the bench to score 14 points in 23 minutes of work.
A.J. Hodges led the Clippers with 25 points, and Hunter Sipe added 15.
South Puget Sound outscored Centralia 44-32 in the second half to win going away.
Marqus Gilson and Austin Curry each scored 20 points to lead Centralia, with Curry adding seven rebounds. Gilson went 9 of 11 from the field and blocked a pair of shots.
Collin Prangley scored 11 and Jaxon Clarke added 10 for Centralia.
The Trailblazers (9-16, 5-5 league) host Tacoma on Saturday.
