Wednesday’s College Softball: Centralia Wallops Grays Harbor in Doubleheader

Centralia scored 42 runs in two games to earn a sweep of Grays Harbor in a NWAC South Conference softball doubleheader at Borst Park in Centralia on Wednesday.

The Blazers won Game 1 in five innings, 19-1. Dakota Brooks pitched all five innings, allowing three hits, one earned run and two walks with seven strikeouts. She helped her cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and three RBI.

Britzy Hockett was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs and Jamie Carlson was 3-for-3 with three home runs and nine RBI.

McKenna Smith was 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three runs and three RBI and Shelby Levang was 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, two runs and three RBI.

Centralia scored five runs in the first and second inning for a 10-0 lead. The Blazers plated three runs in the third and added six more runs in the fourth to end the game in five innings.

It was more of the same in Game 2 with the Blazers earning a win in five innings, 23-0. Jaedyn Shaughnessy pitched a complete game for the Blazers, allowing six hits, no runs and one walk while striking out six batters.

Hockett was 4-for-5 with a home run, four runs and three RBI and Olivia Dean was 4-for-5 with two doubles, four runs and two RBI.

Brooks was 5-for-5 with a double, a home run, a run and eight RBI and Skylar Olson was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBI. Levang was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs and four RBI.

Centralia scored 18 runs in the third inning to run away with the win.

Centralia (20-11, 14-7) hosts SW Oregon on Saturday at noon for a conference doubleheader.
