Wednesday’s Girls Golf: W.F. West Tops Centralia By Two Points
By The Chronicle
The Bearcats needed every point against Centralia at Newaukum Valley Golf Course on Tuesday, defeating the Tigers 60-58 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match in Chehalis on Wednesday.
Centralia’s Tessa Smith earned medalist honors with 19 points. W.F. West’s Makenna Klovdahl finished in second with 16 points and teammate Laney Barker tallied 14 points to finish third.
Elizabeth Twining had 12 points and Aeryn Elder added 10 points. Emma Finley scored eight points and Macy Gaudette rounded out the Bearcats with four points.
Centralia’s Lexi Erb and Jordan Blaettler each recorded 12 points. Lily Miller had eight points, Mazzi Nowicki carded seven points and Karen Wu scored four points.
“It turned out to be a lot of fun. Last time we tied and then we lost, this time we win by two. It was a lot of fun,” W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said. “Tessa (Smith) came up with 19 today, she hit the ball real well and had a good short game. It was a good match for MaKenna (Klovdahl), she keeps bringing her numbers down. Lowest total score she’s had all season.”
W.F. West will host Rochester on Friday at Newaukum Valley Golf Course while Centralia hosts Tumwater at Riverside on Friday.
