Wednesday’s Prep Volleyball: Mossyrock Sweeps Onalaska

MOSSYROCK — The Vikings bounced back from the loss against W.F. West quickly, sweeping Onalaska 3-0 in a Central 2B League volleyball match here on Wednesday.
Mossyrock won the sets 25-7, 28-26 and 25-16.
Morgan Houghtelling served 17 of 18 and had five aces and seven kills. Emily Edgar served 100 percent and had five kills.
Faith Mulligan and Heather Edgar each served 100 percent and Andee Nelson added five kills for Mossyrock.
“It was a good serving night. We had a bunch of aces,” Mossyrock coach Alex Nelson said. “We had some great hustle plays, keeping it alive.
Eryn Duryea recorded 10 assists, five blocks and served 100 percent and Carmen Cleveland-Barrera added three kills and 10 blocks.
Sophia Leal chipped in 21 digs and served 100 percent. Keiley Fickett had 12 defensive digs and served 100 percent for the Lady Loggers.
“I think we started out slow in the first game but came back in the second and third game. We’ve really been focusing on having grit and playing through hard situations,” Onalaska coach Terri Dalsted said. “Mossyrock has a lot of really good athletes and are well coached. Our girls rose to the occasion after that first game.”
Mossyrock (2-1) travels to face Kalama next Tuesday in a C2BL match while Onalaska (0-3) hits the road to play in the Yakima SunDome Classic at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Toledo Takes Down Rainier
TOLEDO — The Indians started strong and never looked back, sweeping Rainier 3-0 in a Central 2B League volleyball match here on Wednesday.
Toledo won the sets 25-14, 25-16 and 26-24.
Kyleigh Holmes had seven kills and four blocks, Kate Demery had five kills and Rylie Pliler chipped in four kills. Emma Cline-Maier had a team-high 19 assists for Toledo.
“They played really well and communicated really well. We got the chance to put some different players in,” Toledo coach Candace Maier said. “We’re seeing lots of improvement and a strong front row. It was nice to see.”
Toledo (1-1) travels to Winlock on Thursday for a C2BL match.
